"自尊感情の高い人は、他者を見る時には長所からみていくという傾向があることがわかっています。 　相手のいいところから見ていくことができると、自分とは違う人やちょっと癖のある人なども含めて、いろいろなタイプの人と仲良くなれるのですね。それで交友関係が広がっていくと考えられているのです。 　逆に、自尊感情が低い人は「他人とは自分に不利益な存在だ」と警戒してしまう傾向が強いので、どうしても欠点から見ていきがちです。そうすると「あの人も嫌い」「この人も嫌い」と交友関係が限定されてしまうのです。 　また自尊感情が低い人は、自分を否定されるような言葉に出会ったとき、変に攻撃的になってしまったり、やっぱり自分はダメなんだと落ち込んでしまうことがあります。 「自分は、そこそこ悪くない人間である」と自己評価ができないから、他人の評価に気持ちを流されて過剰反応してしまうのです。"
